August Community Herb Classes

  • Smoke Cleansing

    8.14. 6-7:30 pm. $20-35

There are many plants that can cleanse the air of harmful microbes and energetic stagnation. A lot more than just white sage, which has been over harvested and appropriated from indigenous communities.

Join Malerie in this hour long class to learn about a handful of herbs that grow abundant locally, in gardens, and are affordable in grocery stores that you can use to cleanse the air in your spaces.

During this class we will all make our own smoke wand with fresh plants. Participants will learn a new skill, take home a handmade smoke wand, and never have to buy white sage wrapped in plastic ever again.

    All materials provided.

  • Herbal Vinegars

    8.24. 10-11:30am. $20-35

Let’s make kitchen medicine! Vinegars are a delicious and nutritious way to preserve seasonal medicines. Vinegars are accessible, affordable, and versatile. They are so easy to make and easy to incorporate into your daily routine through food and beverage.

In this class, we will sip fizzy water with herbal vinegars while participants are taught how to make a personal 4oz herbal vinegar with a fresh culinary herb to take home.

    All materials provided.

  • Plant Walk for BBI folx

    8.27.24. 5-7 pm. Free.

Each month I host a free plant walk for black, brown, indigenous folx in the area. Join me for a casual trail walk to learn identification, edibility, medicinal uses, and folklore of local plants. This is accessible to all bodies and all skill levels!

I choose to lead these free monthly plant walks because I do not believe in the commodification of wild plant knowledge. I believe that connecting indigenous, black, and brown people back to the land is a crucial step in healing land-based trauma we have experienced for generations and continue to experience while forcibly living under settler colonial and capitalist systems of oppression and exploitation here on Turtle Island.

All community herb classes are sliding scale.

Classes are all limited to 7 participants and will be hosted outdoors in a local park. Location will be disclosed upon sign up.
